5:1 Pitch Plastic Coil is a durable, flexible, and an affordable alternative to other binding methods. Plastic coil binding is also known as Spiralastic®, Spiral Binding, Color Coil or Spiral Coil.
Made from the highest grade compounds, plastic coil is strong and durable; yet flexible and lightweight. Plastic coil bound document pages will open a full 360° (front-to-back) and lie perfectly flat. The multiple hole format makes the binding extra strong and the plastic coil's "memory" resists bending and with its lightweight construction it's great for mailing.
Although not as common as 4:1 pitch coil, some printers and binderies prefer to use 5:1 pitch coil. With five holes per inch, 5:1 pitch coil is more tightly wound and provides a neat and tidy appearance. However, the tight spacing of the coil and the smaller size of the holes used by this pattern limit the size of spines that are available. Five to one pitch spiral coil is available in diameters ranging from 6mm up to 25mm. This means that documents larger than one inch thick cannot be bound using this hole pattern.
Available in a variety of colors and sizes to finish almost any job, our plastic coil is CPSIA compliant, making it lead and phthalate free. It will not chip, crack, corrode or distort over time, and will retain its shape even with repeated use.
All other colors are standard colors and are readily available. For special colors let us manufacture custom PMS matched colors for you. Click here to view our Special Order Plastic Coil PMS Color Chart.
