Tips for Measuring Looseleaf Binders: The capacity of loose leaf binders are determined by measuring the inside diameter of the ring mechanism. Never measure the spine or backbone of the cover to determine the size of the binder. The spine is always larger than the ring capacity which determines the binder size. D Ring Binders - Measure the perpendicular dimension from the point where the ring exits the base metal to the inside top of the ring.
*Note: based on total weight of a 1-1/2" capacity round ring binder
