4:1 Pitch Plastic Coil is a durable, flexible, and an affordable alternative to other binding methods. Plastic coil binding is also known as Spiralastic®, Spiral Binding, Color Coil or Spiral Coil.
The most common hole pattern used with coil binding is a 4:1 pitch hole pattern. This simply means that there are four holes per inch on the edge of the document. The holes for this style are usually either round or oval shaped. Depending on the size and spacing of the hole pattern, there will be 43 or 44 holes on an 11" binding edge. Supplies for binding documents with 4:1 pitch spiral coil are available in sizes ranging from 6mm up to 50mm in diameter. This allows for binding documents that are up to two inches thick.
Made from the highest grade compounds, plastic coil is strong and durable; yet flexible and lightweight. Plastic coil bound document pages will open a full 360° (front-to-back) and lie perfectly flat. The multiple hole format makes the binding extra strong and the plastic coil's "memory" resists bending and with its lightweight construction it's great for mailing.
Available in a variety of colors and sizes to finish almost any job, our plastic coil is CPSIA compliant (lead and phthalate free). It will not chip, crack, corrode or distort over time, and will retain its shape even with repeated use.
